The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Displeasure About Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
