The leadership board of the prestigious performing arts venue has voted to adopt a new name the Trump-Kennedy Center, per an announcement by the White House.
White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated on social media that the board's decision was unanimous, citing "the unbelievable work President Trump has done over the last year in saving the building."
"This promises to be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt reach new levels of success and grandeur," Leavitt continued.
The proposed move is expected to be deeply divisive, notably in Washington, D.C., where the center has served as an beloved institution since its construction and dedication for President John F. Kennedy.

Not long after beginning his term, President Donald Trump replaced all the center's sitting board members and named allies in their place. The reconstituted board later moved to name Trump the chairman.
The president later secured approximately $257 million in appropriated money to cover significant upgrades and operational expenses at the national venue.
